IELTS: International English Language Testing System

Reading

The Reading test is 60 minutes long with 3 passages and 40 questions. It assesses skills like skimming, scanning, and comprehension. Academic and General Training versions differ in content.

Writing

The Writing test lasts 60 minutes and has two tasks. Task 1 (150 words) involves describing data (Academic) or writing a letter (General). Task 2 (250 words) is an essay on a given topic.

Speaking

The Speaking test lasts 11–14 minutes with three parts: an introduction, a short speech, and a discussion. It assesses fluency, coherence, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.

Listening

The Listening test lasts 30 minutes with four sections. It includes 40 questions based on conversations and monologues, assessing comprehension of main ideas, details, and opinions.
